The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural, social and artistic explosion that centered in Harlem in the 1920s and 1930s, pushing creative boundaries for self-expression to new and exciting heights.

Our own original illustrations on the cover and inside the journal pay homage with portrayals of the musicians, artists, and luminaries who helped to build this thriving movement. Included are Duke Ellington on the piano, singer Billie Holiday with signature gardenia tucked behind her ear, Dizzy Gillespie and his trumpet, Josephine Baker in her infamous banana skirt, writer Langston Hughes looking stylish in his fedora, Cab Calloway depicted as a top-hatted bandleader and flapper girls at the iconic and legendary Savoy Ballroom.

Hand-bound with exceptional attention to craftsmanship, the cover is made of soft vegan leather in black with distinctive gold foil detailing. Each journal features our own original illustrations, 300 lined pages with elegant gilded edges, a crimson satin ribbon bookmark and elastic book closure.

I've been using this journal to jot down notes while reading classic Harlem Renaissance poetry, and the pages have a nice, smooth texture that makes writing a pleasure. The cover art captures the vibrant spirit of the era perfectly.

The cover design is stunning — the colors really capture that 1920s energy I was hoping for. Paper quality feels substantial and the pages lie flat when open, which makes writing in it a pleasure.
