The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural, social and artistic explosion that centered in Harlem in the 1920s and 1930s, pushing creative boundaries for self-expression to new and exciting heights.

Our own original illustrations on the mug pay homage with portrayals of the musicians, artists, and luminaries who helped to build this thriving movement. Included are Duke Ellington on the piano, singer Billie Holiday with signature gardenia tucked behind her ear, Dizzy Gillespie and his trumpet, Josephine Baker in her infamous banana skirt, writer Langston Hughes looking stylish in his fedora, Cab Calloway depicted as a top-hatted bandleader and flapper girls at the iconic and legendary Savoy Ballroom.

I’ve been using this mug for my morning tea and the metallic gold really pops against the matte black finish. The wide handle makes it comfortable to hold even when it’s full. It’s become my go‑to for adding a little art to my routine.

The black and gold design is so much richer in person, with a nice weight to the mug that feels substantial. I’ve been using it for my morning coffee and the glossy finish wipes clean easily. The 1920s artistic vibe is a great conversation starter.
