Introducing the vibrant Nightclub Map Tote Bag by the Harlem Design Co. Now reimagined in color, this iconic design brings new life to E. Simms Campbell’s witty illustrations and personal annotations. His map captures the electric energy radiating from Lenox Avenue—Cab Calloway lighting up the Cotton Club, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson tap dancing at the Lafayette Theater, and the lively scene at Club Hot-Cha, “where nothing happens before 2am.” Bursting with personality and color, the tote also features the spirited “café au lait girls” of Small’s Paradise, Gladys Bentley in top hat and tuxedo at her Clam House, crooners at the Radium Club, and Campbell’s own favorite spots like Tillie’s (“the fried chicken is really good!”) and Log Cabin, “an intimate little spot.”

E. Simms Campbell’s Nightclub Map of Harlem has gained enduring cultural and historical interest and many accolades, and in 2020, Campbell was posthumously inducted into the Eisner Awards Hall of Fame, the pinnacle of recognition in the comic book industry.

It’s made from a durable cotton canvas that is sturdy and large enough for a 17 inch laptop, books and tablets, a large beach towel, and any other necessities for a perfect day. We designed this tote bag with you in mind hence the long shoulder straps, inside pocket for your keys, phone and lipstick, and gussied bottom construction which makes it perfectly expandable.
